Typhoon Chedeng Update: April 5, 2015 @ 11: 00 a.m.

"CHEDENG" is now traversing Isabela Province.

At 10:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression “CHEDENG” is now over Palanan, Isabela (17.0°N, 122.2°E). It is moving with Maximum winds of 55 kph near the center.

Typhoon Chedeng Update: April 5, 2015 @ 5:00 a.m.

(Valid Beginning: 5:00 a.m. today until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow)

"CHEDENG" further weakened to tropical depression and remains quasi-stationary over the eastern seaboard of Aurora.

At 4:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression “CHEDENG” was estimated based on all available data including Baler doppler radar at 95 km East Southeast of Casiguran, Aurora (16.1°N, 123.0°E), with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center. It is forecast to remain almost stationary.

According to PAGASA, Typhoon "CHEDENG" has weakened further as it moves closer to Eastern Luzon. It is now moving West Northwest at 19 kph and has maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph.

At 7:00 p.m. today, the eye of the Typhoon "Chedeng" {MAYSAK} was located based on all available data at 800 km East Southeast of Casiguran, Aurora (14.1°N, 1129.2°E).

According to PAGASA, Typhoon "CHEDENG" has weakened further as it moves closer to Eastern Luzon and is moving West Northwest at 19 kph. It has maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph.


As of 11:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2015, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued Severe Weather Bulletin No. 1 - TROPICAL CYCLONE ALERT: TYPHOON "CHEDENG".

The weather bureau informed the public that Typhoon Maysak has entered Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and was named "CHEDENG".

As of 11:00 p.m., the eye of the super typhoon is located at 1,015 km East Northeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar or 1,040 km East of Borongan, Eastern Samar with exact coordinates 11.9°N, 135.0°E.

Bagyong Chedeng has a maximum sustained winds of 180 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 215 kph and is moving West NorthWest with a velocity of 19 kph, PAGASA posted in their website.

Forecast positions of Typhoon Chedeng:

  • 24 hour (Tomorrow evening) - 850 km East of Legazpi City, Albay.
  • 48 hour (Friday evening) - 620 km East of Infanta, Quezon.
  • 72 hour (Saturday evening) - 130 km East Southeast of Casiguran, Aurora.

Typhoon Chedeng is estimated to make landfall over eastern coast of Samar, Quezon or Isabela by late Saturday (April 4) to early Sunday (April 5).

Estimated rainfall amount is from heavy to at times intense within the 150-200 km radius of the Typhoon.
