The complaint was filed in a federal court in Florida against pirate sites boxinghd.net and sportship.org - which announced and advertised to offer Pacquiao vs Mayweather Live Stream.
Along with promoters Top Rank and Mayweather Promotions, HBO and Showtime asked for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction, as well as, rather oddly, damages to compensate for expected losses and legal costs.
HBO and Showtime argue that the anticipated live stream of the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight will infringe on their rights and cause irreparable damage.
According to Torrentfreak, it’s the first time ever that a lawsuit has been filed over piracy that hasn’t yet taken place.
