FEU ends two-game losing streak

FEU swept the first round of the UAAP Season 76 Men's Basketball Tournament winning all their 7 games. But after a week-long rest due to FIBA Asia, FEU became a different team entering into the round 2 of the competition. They lost back to back against National University and De La Salle University while other teams are improving and getting their groove back.

But during their third game of the second round, Sunday-August 25, 2013, they finally ended their losing streak winning against University of the East, 98-94 in a classic double-overtime. This was the first win of the Tamaraws in the second round of the tournament with Terrence Romeo scoring 30 points. FEU played without the former UAAP Most Valuable Player, RR Garcia due to a one-game suspension but were still able to bounce back and win against a solid UE team.

"Both (joy and relief)," FEU coach Nash Racela said when asked how he felt after the game. "Joy because my players didn't give up. I told them, anything is possible. Nothing is impossible, and, at least tonight, they believed that. And I am so proud of them. This is the first time I will be saying that I am so, so proud of them," Racela added.

With the victory, the Tamaraws hiked their record to 8-2 and strengthened their hold on the top spot of the league standings.

Meanwhile, the Warriors saw their four-game winning streak snapped in painful fashion. UE now has a 5-4 record, tied with the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the league standings.
