Bedweather as "Maring" turns into a Tropical Storm

A new tropical storm named as Maring intensified from a tropical depression just today, Sunday-August 18, 2013 according to Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA said “Maring” was estimated at 560 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes. The tropical storm has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kilometers per hour. It is forecast to move east northeast at 7 kilometers per hour.

Heavy rains are experienced today in different places in Luzon and Visayas and a cloudy weather in Mindanao as reports said Maring will cause Metro Manila, the Ilocos region, Calabarzon and the provinces of Benguet, Zambales, Bataan and Occidental Mindoro to experience monsoon rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. Mindanao, Western Visayas and the rest of Luzon, on the other hand, will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms. PAGASA said the rest of Visayas will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail throughout the archipelago and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
